Meet Your Photographer

For my first blog I want to tell you a little bit about the Photographer you will be getting if you choose GypsyMollie Photography:)
Here are some fun facts:

My name is Janzen Riley Jackson, some call me Janzen others call me Riley.
I live my life to serve God above ALL things. He is my number 1!!
I am 21 years young! And I say young not old because I am fun, vibrant, still growing.
I am located in Fairfield, TX and I will travel to you if necessary
Yes owning/running your own business at a young agree can be challenging. I am thankful for the support group that I have to help me in any areas I am a little unsure of.

I grew up all over Texas! Yes it is a large state and I have only lived in the same town twice! My daddy is a cutting horse trainer that renting facilities until someone would come in and buy it, he now owns his own place no more moving for him. haha.

Growing up showing horses you are always on the road seeing new places, things, and cultures. I am thankful for that because it has made me in to the well rounded young woman I am today. That is what started my spark you just go down the road seeing all of the beauty that God has created you can't help but want to capture it and preserve it.

And for those that are thinking what is a cutting horse, no it does not mean we physically cut them. Yes I have been asked that before. You are horse back and "cut" a cow from a heard and have to maintain it in a certain area with your horse.

Once I turned 18 I couldn't show anymore because I didn't own a horse, and that is part of the rules : ( Honestly after showing for 13 years I was ready for a change.

So off to college I went, working a full time job as sales rep/designer/sponsorship coordinator for a clothing company, but I wanted a CAREER.

I was going to be a Dental Hygienest. Dr. Janzen Jackson hehe that still makes me laugh!

"You are not a Dr. just a dentist."

While in school though my interest changed, and teeth were no longer my center fascination. Yes I do still love them and will diagnose a tooth ache on set if you need me too. Jack of all trades....

Lets fast forward and skip around a little bit sorry it is just not a very easy time line to work with!!

I started as a photographer 3 years ago when my mother got me a camera for Christmas and did not pursue it seriously at first it was a FUN hobby that I just did for family and close friends, I even taught myself along the way. My brother was always my main subject he Ranch Rodeos, Rides Ranch Broncs, and Day Works. If you don't know what any of that means it is ok, not to important. Although the cowboy lifestyle does open up some pretty awesome pictures opportunities.

One more picture and your done!

As I was in school my brother got engaged : ) And he was such a romantic when he proposed....the kind that most girls dream of. I tell you this because they decided to use ME to do their engagement pictures. My first real photo shoot that had pressure behind it. And it is my big brother so I had to do good, he is my hardest critic and I love that!

Loved the pictures! First client was a happy client. Success

They are now happily married with my niece on the way! Actually right around the corner : ) July 24th!

Doing those pictures really sparked my interest in doing this for other people, so I talked to a photographer about her pricing. Got an idea of what I could charge and away I went. Now a year later, I am still growing my business, working only on the weekends until I know that I can be self sufficient with only pictures.
And yes on their engagement pictures that does say "Riley Jackson Photography" I partnered with my best friend Jordee Williamson on her company MisfitMollie check us out www.facebook.com/mistfitmolliesjunk any who I changed my name to GypsyMollie to tie it in with my company.

The next step and future of my business

I am starting a photography class pretty soon just so that I can learn more tricks of the trade and to improve myself. You can always learn something new! Never close your mind.

I hope that this has helped you get to know me and hopefully choose me to capture the rest of your lives moments in front of the camera!!!
